Fabric Cost Estimator

Convert commercial raw mill price per kg into unit costs per linear meter and linear yard.

Commercial Formulas

Width (m) = Width (inches) × 0.0254
Linear Meter Weight (kg) = (GSM × Width(m)) / 1000
Cost / Meter = Linear Meter Weight × Price / kg
Cost / Yard = Cost / Meter × 0.9144

Worked Costing Example

With Cotton Jersey at $6.00/kg, 180 GSM, and 72" width (1.8288 m):

  • Weight/m = (180 × 1.8288) / 1000 = 0.329 kg/m
  • Cost/m = 0.329 × $6.00 = $1.97 / linear meter
  • Cost/yd = $1.97 × 0.9144 = $1.80 / linear yard
Costing Notice: Fabric specifications such as GSM, width, composition and performance may vary depending on yarn, construction, finishing process, manufacturer and end use. Values shown are general industry reference information and should not be treated as a supplier specification.
